H&M ranks 1st in Fashion Revolution’s What Fuels Fashion? Report

After having been amongst the highest-ranking brands in Fashion Revolution’s Fashion Transparency Index for several consecutive years, and ranking 3rd in its What Fuels Fashion? Report in 2024, H&M again ranks 1st out of 200 major fashion brands and retailers reviewed in the report with a score of 71%.

This ranking shows we are moving in the right direction, but it also reminds us that action must go further and faster. No brand can tackle this challenge alone. By working together and sharing more openly, we can lift the entire industry and drive meaningful change.

Leyla Ertur, Chief Sustainability Officer, H&M Group

Fashion Revolution is a global fashion activism movement, mobilising citizens, brands and policymakers through research, education and advocacy. The report, following Fashion Revolution’s annual publication of its Fashion Transparency Index, assesses how transparently brands report on their decarbonisation efforts in both their own operations and their supply chains, including the financial, technical, and advocacy support they provide to suppliers. The ranking measures transparency and is not an assessment of overall sustainability performance.

What fuels Fashion? 2025 measured public disclosure against a list of 78 indicators covering 5 sections including: Accountability, Decarbonisation, Energy Procurement, Financing Decarbonisation and Just Transition & Advocacy.

H&M Group continues to constantly increase its transparency and openly reports about the group’s progress and challenges in its Annual and Sustainability Report and its Sustainability Progress Report and outlines the group’s activities to reach its targets in its Climate Transition Plan.
