Ann-Sofie Johansson favorite looks for women this spring: pattern, texture and a hint of bohemia

As spring arrives, so too do even more options for great style at H&M. Head of Design Ann-Sofie Johansson selects her pick of the season, and says how she’d wear each piece.

WHITE DECO PATTERNED TOP: “This top is so pretty, with its white-on-white pattern and its sweet spaghetti straps. It’ll look great on the first sunny day of the year worn with cut-off shorts.”

INKA PATTERN SWEATSHIRT: “Sometimes you see a piece you know you’ll always wear. This patterned sweatshirt is one of them, and will look lovely with a pair of coloured trousers.”

BLACK MESH-FRONT BODY: “I love the playful ‘90s references in fashion at the moment. This black body looks demure, apart from the mesh V panel at the front. Match it with a black blazer and skinny black jeans for a rocker look.”

BLACK PENCIL SKIRT: “Every woman needs a black pencil skirt in their wardrobe. It’s such a classic piece, and looks fresh this season with a pretty patterned blouse.”

Andreas Löwenstam gives the key looks in menswear: neat spring tailoring and sporty separates

Menswear at H&M this season matches neat spring tailoring with sporty pieces ready for the first glimpse of the sun. H&M’s head menswear designer Andreas Löwenstam talks through his key looks.

TAILORED SHORTS SUIT: “I love this blazer and matching tailored shorts, which make a real statement when worn together with a cable-knit sweater, shirt and bow-tie. It’s a look that’s both smart and also fun to wear.”

LINEN BLAZER AND PATTERNED KNIT: “Spring means you can start to wear tailoring in lighter fabrics. This linen blazer with matching trousers has a sharp cut, but the fabric gives it a great understated look, which looks perfect with a patterned knit.”

PATTERNED TROUSERS: “Usually men wear pattern on the top half of the body. This spring, things are switched, and the pattern now comes on the trousers, like these pair with an ethnic print. Wear them with a simple soft-washed T-shirt, and some sneakers.”

WHITE SHIRT AND PATTERNED SHORTS: “This makes such a great combination for when the weather warms up. The white shirt has a fastening to keep the sleeves rolled, and makes a nice contrast with the Inka patterned shorts. Finish with a navy cap.”

WHITE SPORT JACKET: “With sports such a key influence, it’s important to have the right kit for when you’re exercising, too. This white sports jacket is great for spring, worn with a white vest and black running tights.”
