Rockabilly retro

Season start for the young collection, Divided, is inspired by 1950s rockabilly. The trend, which has American origins, is all about styling. The fashion is based on American college classics combined with elements of rock and motorbike culture. The result is a mix of preppy and rock, emphasised with up-to-the-minute present day accessories.

For girls, the silhouette is curvy with focus on the waist. Trousers are ankle length or capri, skirts are either narrow pencil skirts or wide and knee-length, while shirts are often knotted under the bust. Jumpers and cardigans are key pieces, preferably worn with a wide, elasticated belt to emphasise the waist. Jeans are dark and unwashed, black or blue, and always with a turn-up.
Colours are black and fruity pastel shades. Prints include spots, checks and Hawaiian prints. There are also rock and motorbike all-over prints on both clothes and accessories.
Key items are capri pants, twinsets and wide 50s skirts while essential accessories are scarves, elasticated belts and ankle socks.

For the guys, the silhouette is straighter than before. The season?s latest style of jeans is also straight in unwashed denim with a wide turn-up. Shirts are in short-sleeved bowling styles. There’s also Hawaiian and tennis style shirts in cotton. Jackets are bomber style and are made of either satin or leather.

Colours are black, red and blue and accent colours are brights. Patterns include Hawaiian prints, motorbike inspired prints along with embroidery and appliqué details on shirts. The nostalgic 50s rockabilly must haves are: a short-sleeved shirt and unwashed straight jeans, with long key chains, hats and riveted belts.
