Some sure bets in H&M’s autumn range for kids

The new range at H&M for the autumn season holds a number of sure-fire winners.

‘Fashion and safety go hand in hand in our Babywear and Childrenswear departments. A great deal of consideration and effort goes into designing kids’ clothes that are smart, safe and functional all at the same time. It’s often the little details that make all the difference,’ says Maria Golander, child safety expert at H&M.

Rainwear to brighten up those autumn days
New, fun colours have been introduced into H&M’s classic rainwear range alongside red and blue. Fresh green, warm yellow and bright pink lend a splash of colour to dull, damp autumn days. Reflectors on arms and legs make kids more visible in the dark. And the fleece-lined collar is soft on the skin, while welded seams keep the wet out. In line with H&M’s policy on chemicals, our rainwear is also PVC-free.
Sizes 86-140 cl. Price €19 90 per item.

Cut a dash on the slopes in this smart snowboarding outfit
A favourite that has been given a makeover this autumn’s is a snowboarding outfit. For girls there’s a plain jacket in lime green or red, with flowery bottoms in matching colours. For boys the range includes a patterned jacket and two jackets in orange or green, with check bottoms. Outfits have an adjustable elasticated hem and cuffs on the jackets to keep out the snow, and fasteners inside of the jacket to eliminate any risk of loose cords trailing around the waist.
Sizes 86-170 Price: Jacket (girls) €19,90 86-128 €19,90 134-170 trousers €16.90. Jacket (boys) €19,90 86-128 €19,90 134-170 trousers €16,90. Check jacket, size 134 and above only.

A leather jacket that’s small but tough
For its very youngest customers H&M is launching a leather jacket that has been tanned synthetically, ensuring that it is kinder both to baby’s skin and to the environment. The label bears the White Line System marking, which guarantees that the product meets very high manufacturing standards and dermatological tested and won’t harm your baby’s skin. The jacket is a classic lumber jacket design in brown and looks equally stylish on girls and boys.
Size 62-86. Price €39,90

Baby clothes with the eco-label
H&M baby clothes bearing the EU Flower eco-label are now available in a pale yellow shade. Like the rest of H&M’s Babywear range, the garments are free of hazardous chemicals and have been manufactured with environmental considerations in mind. In addition to the new shade, the body, trouser and cap range is also available as before in light blue and pink.
Size 50-62 Price €7,90 for 2-pack trousers, €7,90 for 2-pack body and €3,90 for 2-pack cap.

Special precautions for tiny tots
H&M’s focus on quality and child safety includes ensuring that small chins are protected against sharp edges through the provision of a chin guard on jacket zippers. We also check that hoods on all H&M’s outerwear are detachable to reduce the risk of accidents if a child should become caught by the hood when playing. And there are no drawstrings around necks or hoods.

Since children have more sensitive skin, particular care is also taken regarding the use of chemicals and nickel. As a result, our garments don’t need to be washed prior to first use.

All conceivable hazards and health risks are tested out carefully in our own and external laboratories. H&M carries out hundreds of thousands of tests every year, including button tests, nickel tests, and chemical, flame and pH testing.
