Spring fashion has a romantic feel at H&M

This spring it’s the romantic look at H&M, with folklore and 1970s influences mixed in. Loose cut garments in linen and cotton fabrics give the collection a feminine, easy-wear feel. Voluminous garments are frequently teamed with closer-fitting outlines to produce interesting contrasts. Natural materials like linen, cotton and silk are used. Nature provides the inspiration for the colours, which include sand beige, khaki, green, sky blue, red, black and white.

With the focus on waist and hips, the folklore-inspired skirt with flounces, frills and drapes is one of the season’s key pieces, along with cropped trousers or jeans, which are also a must at H&M this spring. The latest jeans are straight-cut and slender. Denim skirts are flared and slightly longer. The trench coat and ‘safari jacket’ in a neat, trim form a looser style with pocket details. The tailored collection is feminine and inspired by the seventies. Jackets are close-fitting and narrow-shouldered to go with knee-length skirts and wide or narrow trousers. Folklore blouses or tunics are the season’s hottest top, but the classic shirt also plays a key role, often featuring new cuts and details. Cardigans, wraparound sweaters and tops come in thin jersey with frills and drapes, or loose coarse knits in cotton or linen blends.

Accessories often have a hand-crafted feel and finish. Belts with buckles in mother-of-pearl, bamboo and metal embellished with turquoise, coral and pearls. Bags are made of straw, leather, fabric or crocheted, with handles of bamboo or plaited leather. Ethnic jewellery completes the look, in silver, antique gold and antique silver with turquoise, coral, mother-of-pearl and ‘precious gems’.
