H&M in Bangladesh – a short film
In the beginning of September H&M’s CEO, Karl-Johan Persson went to Bangladesh to meet with the Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, and to put forward H&M’s demand for higher minimum wages and yearly wage reviews.
Bangladesh is one of H&M’s most important production markets, but it is also one of the poorest countries in the world. We think the minimum wage is low and naturally it should be enough to live on. This is a problem for the whole industry and that is why we work on a political level to address this important issue. Therefore H&M’s CEO, Karl-Johan Persson put forward our demand for higher minimum wages and yearly wage reviews during the meeting with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
Transparency is important to us. That is why we would like to share a short film on H&M in Bangladesh where you will hear the voices of female workers and stakeholders as well Karl-Johan Persson on his meeting with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
