H&M in contact with AFL-CIO to solve the issue of union representation in the US
In a reply to the American trade union organisation AFL-CIO H&M suggests a direct discussion between H&M and AFL-CIO in order to solve the issue regarding the union representation of H&M:s US employees.
As the issue is of a general character and may concern several US trade unions H&M suggests that these discussions should be held directly with the AFL-CIO.
– H&M has good trade union relations, says Rolf Eriksen, CEO of H&M. We abide by the ILO conventions, we follow the current laws in every country, and we have an ambition to have good relations with the local trade unions.
– In our efforts to reach a constructive dialogue with trade unions in the US we have received positive support from the Swedish trade union Handels as well as from the international trade union UNI (Union Network International) with 15 million members in 900 trade unions. Handels and UFCW, the US union with the major part of the unionized retail trade, are members of UNI.
