Unique collection for fashion conscious mums and daughters

Seventies-style mother and daughter fashion is back in vogue again, and to mark its return H&M is launching a small, select range of mother and daughter clothes for the Autumn. The collection is inspired partly by the 1970s and partly by contemporary style icons like Madonna and Jade Jagger, who like to appear with their offspring in twin-like designer outfits. A charming notion, and it’s great to see that cute can also be cool this season.

The look is naturally very feminine; with a slight decadent bohemian accent it also has a vintage feel. Skirts and dresses have frills and gathers and are teamed with blouses, knitted tops, and cardigans, which have frills, patterns and embroidery prints. Coats include a patterned wool coat and a fake fur jacket.

Colours are soft Autumnal shades such as brown, claret and plum, combined with off-white and black. Patterns range from classic tweed to rose patterns and Art Deco-inspired designs, and classic fabrics are in: tweed, wool, knits, velvet and velour.

The mother and daughter collection is complemented by knitted accessories – scarves, berets and knee socks with bows.

The collection, which is exclusive to H&M this autumn, will be on sale in selected stores from the end of August. Sizes for mums range from 8 to 16 and for daughters from age 2 to 6 Press pictures can be downloaded from www.hm.com.
